For
Master's Use
Samuel McLawyer Jr.
God has extended
salvation to mankind for more than saving the soul. This statement is
not intended to minimize in any way the gravity of His redemptive
scheme carried out by Jesus on Calvary. But rather, to give insight to
the concept that God has other intentions in mind for any person who
believes and obeys the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In his letter to
Timothy, Paul sent these words of encouragement to his young Christian
apprentice:
"But God's
truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription:
‘The Lord knows those who are his,’ and ‘those who claim they
belong to the Lord must turn away from all wickedness.’ In a wealthy
home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of
wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions,
and the cheap oneoly Spirit would not instruct mankind to do something
that he was not appropriately empowered to do.
So brethren, let
us seriously consider Paul’s exhortation to turn away from
wickedness, and in so doing to keep ourselves pure. Then we "will
be ready for the Master to use (you) for every good work."
